Highlights of What's Inside...
- South Korea is one of the world’s largest markets for high-tech
goods from the United States. Only six countries import more American
tech products than South Korea.
- In fact, the United States exports more to South Korea than to the
United Kingdom or France.
- The United States exported $8.9 billion in high-tech goods to
South Korea in 2007, down from $10.6 billion in 2006, a 17 percent
decline.
- Technology imports from South Korea to the United States totaled
$15.6 billion in 2007, up by $700 million from 2006.
- According to the U.S. Trade Representative, the recently
negotiated free trade agreement between the United States and South
Korea will make 95 percent of consumer and industrial products duty
free in the next three years.
This agreement is in America’s best
interest. The United States benefits both economically and
geopolitically by having a strong and vibrant South Korea.
