Over seventy high-tech leaders
attended AeA's latest Government-Industry Executive Interchange on
Thursday, December 7. This sold out exclusive half-day event,
brought together Federal Chief Information Officers (CIO), Chief
Technology Officers (CTO), Senior Program Officers, and high tech
executives in the David Packard Conference Center at AeA's headquarters in
DC. Topics covered were:
-
Identity Management: Biometric
and RFID Technologies; and
-
E-Health: Trends, Challenges
and Actionable Opportunities.
The event was kicked off by
Goldy Kamali, Director, Federal Government Markets Group, AeA, and Greg
Poersch, Acting Chief Operating Officer & Vice President of Government &
Commercial Markets. Mr. Poersch then introduced the Honorable Robert
T. Howard, CIO, U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs, who delivered the morning
keynote address. Gen. Howard offered insights on the VA's electronic
health program, discussed identity management and privacy issues, and
answered questions from the audience.
Following Howard's
presentation, industry experts from Cisco, HP, and Symbol joined
government leaders from the U.S. Army, U.S. Dept. of Defense, U.S. Dept.
of Homeland Security, and U.S. Dept. of Transportation to discuss identity
management issues that face the private and public sectors. After a
networking break, Barbara Mayerick from the Veterans Health Administration
delivered a presentation on e-health and the VHA.
We would
like to thank our government and industry panelists for their
presentations and candid discussions. We also thank our Platinum
Sponsors Cisco, Microsoft and Symbol Technologies, Inc; our Gold Sponsors
Hewlett-Packard, and Booz Allen Hamilton; and our Silver Sponsor United
Healthcare for their support and partnership.
