Robert (Bob) J. Brilon

Bob Brilon is the chief executive officer, president and chief financial officer for InPlay Technologies, a licensor of proprietary, emerging technologies.
Bob has been on the Board of Directors since January 2001 and served as chairman until April 2005. He has been with the company since its inception 1997 as a consultant. Bob joined as the President/CFO in November 1998 to take the company public on the American Stock Exchange, and ultimately NASDAQ. Bob leads the management team in determining and executing on its direction and goals.
Bob brings 23 years of financial acumen to his leadership. Before beginning his corporate career, Bob accumulated four years of experience with public accounting firms in Iowa and Arizona, including McGladrey Pullen, Ernst and Young (formerly Arthur Young) and Deloitte and Touche (formerly Touche Ross). Brilon began his corporate career at Go-Video in July 1986, at the time of its initial public offering, until April 1993. During his tenure, four public offerings and several private offerings were successfully completed to finance the development of the company’s patented dual-deck VCR technology and rapid growth of its marketing and sales efforts.
Following, Bob took the position of chief financial officer and vice president of operations and administration at DataHand Systems, Inc., a development-stage ergonomic keyboard developer until April 1995. For the next two years, he served as the Corporate Controller for Rental Service Corp., relocating the company headquarters from Irvine, Calif. to Scottsdale, Ariz. During his tenure RSC completed an initial stock offering in September 1996 for $100 million and grew RSC through mergers and acquisition to over $100 million in revenues and over $200 million in total assets.
In 1997, Bob joined Gary Gietz Master Builder, a luxury custom homebuilder in Scottsdale, Ariz., as head of business operations and chief financial officer. Here he incorporated systems to handle the custom and fast-paced nature of the company, achieving a turn around with efficiencies to create substantial returns for the shareholders of the closely held company.
Bob graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Iowa and is a non-practicing certified public accountant.
Bob is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University and an active member of the AeA (American Electronics Association) and Arizona Technology Council.
