Whitley, Katz to Lead AeA Southeast Council

Alpharetta, GA (July 1, 2008) – AeA, the nation’s largest high-tech trade association representing all sectors of the high-tech industry, has named Glen Whitley as its new Executive Director for its Southeast Council. Concurrently, Jeff Katz, President and Chief Operating Officer of Definition6, has assumed the chairmanship of its board of directors.

Whitley, who had previously served as head of the British Consulate-General’s economic development team in the southeastern United States, brings a strong technology background to the organization which services member companies in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead AeA’s efforts in the southeast states at a time when there is so much potential in the region for continued growth in the technology industry,” said Whitley, who has extensive experience in technology company development.

Since 1999, Whitley has assisted dozens of technology companies throughout the southeast establish offices in the United Kingdom, creating a wide range of jobs and other economic benefits for both the US and the UK.

Prior to joining the British Consulate, Whitley served as director of marketing for GEC-Marconi in Atlanta, managing sales and marketing for its avionics and electronics business unit. He also spent 11 years at Lockheed Martin Corp. in a variety of engineering, project management and business development positions.

Whitley has a bachelor of science degree from Clemson University and an MBA from Georgia State University.

Katz, who had served as the 2008 vice chairman of the AeA Southeast Council, moved up to chairman following the resignation of Jon Van Duyne, who stepped down after taking a new job that limited the time available to perform his AeA duties.

“We all wish Jon the best in his new position,” said Katz. “I am honored to join Glen, Regina Maddox and Lesley Dubin and the rest of the AeA’s Southeast Council leadership team in helping to continue to bring tremendous value to our member companies. “Glen has hit the ground running by combining his technology industry knowledge and the value he received as a former AeA member.”

Katz joined the Definition 6 in June 2000 as vice president of operations where he planned and executed customer and employee programs and processes that enhanced profitability, productivity and efficiency throughout the company’s operations. He earned his undergraduate degree in urban development from the University of Maryland and received an MBA from Jacksonville University in 1997.

The new appointments enhance the quick start in 2008 by the AeA Southeast Council which has attracted a number of new members including: Agentek; Anderson-Taylor; Creative Coast Alliance; CRESA Partners; Edgenet; Emerald Software Group; FRONTLINE Selling; McCart Group; Mesa Laboratories Inc.; On Track Technologies Inc.; One Georgia Bank; PartnerTech Inc.; PrimeRevenue; QuantumVision Corp.; and Sutherland LLP.
